Patriots vs Bengals

Both teams wanted this one badly, as it was a very interesting close game. The game started off with New England winning the toss and electing to receive the ball using the home crowd to their advantage. On the Pats first possession, Cincinnati Bengals CB Trent picked one off close to his own endzone returning all the way to the house for the first TD of the game putting the Bengals up 7-0. However the Patriots ignored that pick 6 and moved on quickly capping off a 79 yard drive with a 9 yard pass from Tom Brady to Julian Edelman making the score 7-7 with 5:40 left in the 2nd quarter. The Bengals would see their first offensive possession all game next drive with only 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. They would make no mistake however capping off their drive with a 43 yard field goal. With 1 minute left the Patriots got to work driving up to the 50 where they would be picked off once again. This placed the Bengals in field goal range kicking the easy 28 yard field goal with no time left in the half. The score going into the 3rd quarter was 13-7 Bengals as Brady and his Pats new they had to get something going. The Bengals would get the ball in this half but couldn't get anything going forcing them to punt the ball to the Welker'less Patriots. Welker got injured last possession making the Pats call on Welker's replacement Julian Edelman. Tom Brady gave Edelman a deep bomb on 3rd down scoring the Pats an 85 yard touchdown. The Patriots converted on their extra point giving them the 14-13 lead with 4 minutes left in the 3rd. The game was pretty boring from that point until 3 minutes left in the 4th when newly acquired RB Kevin Smith of the Patriots broke a huge 70 yard run all the way to the Bengals 3 capping off the drive with a 3 yard TD pass from Brady to Gronkowski making it 21-3 with 3 minutes left. This game was pretty much over but to make things worse for the Bengals on the assuming kick off their returner fumbled on an innocent hit. The Patriots would get possession very close to the Bengals endzone making the Bengals waste all their time outs as the Pats would score on a 2 yard run by Kevin Smith with 2 minutes left making it 28-13. The Bengals would lose possession again punting with a minute left which is where the Patriots finished this one by kneeling the ball twice winning the game by a final score of 28-13. It was a very good game as the Pats open their season at home at 1-0 and the Bengals start their season at 0-1. Good luck to both teams as the season moves on.
