Carolina Panthers - 26 vs New York Giants - 15

In an unusual move early in the season, the new manager of the Panthers decided to bench Matt Moore in favor of the rookie Jimmy Clausen with one goal for the rookie quarterback to not turn the ball over. Jimmy Clausen took that message and had a stunning first start to his young career completing 11 of his 13 passes to 7 different recievers for 221 yards. D. Williams hasn't seem to lost a step as he proved to be a workhorse in the game also as he had 19 carries for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. The two teams traded points early with Carolina getting first position and a touchdown with a Williams 2 yard touchdown run. The following possession for the Giants also had them driving down the field and a touchdown was scored by Hedgecock on a touch 1 yard touchdown run. Of course it seemed Carolina wanted to play a time management game and with key injuries to a majority of the Giants, who had lost Osi Umenyiora to a broken collarbone, Chris Canty to a pair of broken ribs, Carson Palmer also sustained an injury towards the end of the 3rd quarter which kept him out for the rest of the game. The Giants were on a verge of a comeback late but the Panthers were able to hold down the fort and pull out the victory 26 to 15
